Sanity and Madness: A Matter of Perspective
Much madness is divinest sense To a discerning eye; Much sense the starkest madness. 'T is the majority In this, as all, prevails. Assent, and you are sane; Demur,-you're straightaway dangerous, And handled with a chain.
History, as well as scientific investigations as to development, lend creditablity to Emily's poem. The mass of humanity do not think beyond the box, and anyone "outside their box", which is the accepted norm is doomed to be labeled, shunned and criticized.
