Roman Endurance
The question isn't why did the Roman rise or why did it fall. The question is, why did it last so long? At least, that is what this sprawling review of Greg Woolf's newest book, Rome: An Empire's Story, asks. (I realize the review came out over a month ago, but I just noticed it).
I have a Ph.D. in Religion from Columbia University. I am currently a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Religion at Illinois Wesleyan University. My research focuses on the New Testament and emergent Christians in their ancient Jewish and Greco-Roman environments.
